Located on a 42-acre site in the northeast outer portion of Corry, PA, the Corry Memorial Hospital project consisted of a 73,256 square foot single-story building divided into two separate structures with a two-hour concrete block firewall.  Each structure consists of steel column and beam/joist construction.  The building consists of Type IIB construction and will be an I-2 occupancy throughout.  It has 20 patient bedrooms, surgery suite, ER suite with an ambulance drop-off and helipad, imaging suite with a mobile MRI, outpatient suites, kitchen and other support functions.

The exterior of the building consists of brick and EIFS over a 6” steel stud non-bearing wall, with curtain wall and metal panels at the main entry, clerestory and main entry canopy.  Substantial earthwork was required to prepare the site for the new building, two parking lots, connecting drives, helipad, and retention pond.  The mechanical system consists of a natural gas, fuel oil backup hot water boiler system supplying four rooftop air handlers with built-in cooling units, and a V.A.V. system within the building.  The electrical system includes an emergency generator providing full building backup.

The project was funded in part by the United States Department of Agriculture, and in part from two grants; Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
